Patricia "Pat" Carr, born in Boston in 1945, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A longtime resident of Rockland and originally from Roslindale, Pat was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Carr and Cecilia (O'Connor) Carr.
Pat dedicated many years of service at Norwood Hospital as a kitchen supervisor before her retirement, after which she continued to help others as an in-home care assistant and hairdresser. Her caring nature touched countless lives, both in her professional work and personal life.
She was married to the late George Reader, and together they enjoyed the thrill of riding George’s Harley, sharing countless adventures. Although Pat did not have children of her own, she is survived by several stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Debbie (Carr) Flynn of Bridgewater; her nephew Alex and his children, also of Bridgewater; her cousin Tim of Illinois; and many other beloved cousins and relatives.
Pat’s social life was filled with friends and cherished moments. She loved her summers spent at Blackmans Point in Marshfield, dining at Haddad’s Ocean Café, and walking along the beaches of Brant Rock. Her childhood was marked by fond memories of summers spent at Buttermilk Bay in Wareham, where she enjoyed the seaside with her family.
Pat will be remembered for her warmth, adventurous spirit, and the joy she brought to those around her. She lived a life full of compassion and generosity, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Pat’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to a breast cancer foundation of your choice or to the NVNA Pat Roche Hospice Home.
