Beloved Bus Driver for Butler Bus Service


AMHERST, NH: Peter J. Rodrigues, age 72, a resident of Amherst, NH for the past 4 years, formerly of Woburn, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Georgina M. (Myatt) Rodrigues, with whom he would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on November 15, 2024.

Born in Boston on March 27, 1952, he was the son of the late William Rodrigues and the late Josephine (Fratto) Rodrigues.

Peter was raised in Somerville and Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School in 1970.

Following high school, he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he earned an associate degree.

Prior to retiring, he and his wife operated Be Safer at Home, a home health security company.

Following retirement, Peter worked for Butler Bus Service. He loved his job and loved all the kids he came to know through the years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, coin collecting, the companionship of his dogs, and most of all spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Charlene M. Carlson and her husband Michael, of Hollis, NH, and Catherine M. Salvaggio, of Tewksbury: seven grandchildren, Taylor M. Amaya and her husband Josh, Samantha M. Salvaggio, Andrew J. Morin, Jack T. Salvaggio, Zachary T. Salvaggio, Alexander P. Morin, and William J. Morin: one great granddaughter, Addison J. Amaya: his former son-in-law, Boyce John Morin. Peter was the brother to Jennie D. DiRusso and her husband John, of Woburn and the late William A. Rogers and his surviving wife Mary Rogers, of Wilmington. He leaves his brother-in-law, Ray Myatt and his wife Sue. of Eliot, ME, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Calling hours are Tuesday, October 1st from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Services will be held Wednesday, October 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
