Jon Emory William Griffin, age 62 of Orleans, MA and Storrs, CT, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2024 following a stroke. He was surrounded with love and family in his final days. He is survived by his children Cody Griffin of Brewster and Brianna (William) Rommé of Yarmouth Port, his sisters Jodie and Jan, many nieces and nephews, and his grandchildren Everly, Abrahm, Rylan, Camden, Josephine, and Joanie. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Evelyn, as well as his former wife Shaundi.
Jon was born May 4, 1962 and grew up in Storrs where he graduated from E.O. Smith High School, and attended Rhode Island Trade School before moving to Cape Cod in 1981. He worked for years as a mate on the boats at Rock Harbor, and the harbor was home to him. He went on to become owner and charter Captain of the Shaundi Lynn out of Orleans and later Wellfleet. He loved being on the water and was so proud of his boats. Jon was a heavy duty mechanic and could fix anything, and always had project trucks, boats, and cars that he loved to work on. He was also passionate about making stained glass, gardening, clamming, birdwatching, sitting by his fire pit, and loved cooking for everyone, enjoying cold beers, and going camping. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his passions will live on through all of them. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with them and teaching them how to do all the things he enjoyed, attending all their events, and reveling in the joy of their love and laughter as they played.
A celebration of life at the Brewster Sportsmans Club on Saturday September 28th from 3-7pm.
