LIMINGTON- Marylou (KING) Zahn formerly of Massachusetts and Limington, ME passed away on September 23, 2024, in Rochester, NH at the age of 84. Mary was born April 12, 1940, in Lawrence, MA to Walter King and Arlene (Stubbs) King. She was the wife of the late Robert Conrad Zahn for 50 years and they had 8 children.
She worked as a cook for many years, eventually opening her own restaurant at the age of 60 in Cornish, ME known as “Grammie’s” for several years fulfilling a long-held dream of hers to own her own restaurant. After she retired, she began volunteering with services to help seniors, first with ITN Portland providing transport services. She then began volunteering with the New Hampshire Senior Companion Program in Rochester, NH visiting people who were unable to get out of their homes until she was no longer able to drive herself. She was a life-long avid reader and loved to spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by her children Christopher and his wife Donna of Lewiston, GwenMarie and her husband Frank Scott of Cornish, William and his wife Mary-Lin of North Waterboro, Debra and her husband Michael Grumbach of Texas, Raymond and his wife Dawn of Milton, NH and Michael Zahn of Porter. Her grandchildren include Nicholas Scott and his wife Katelyn of Buxton, Christina and her husband Jake Newcomb of Fryeburg, Brian Burns, his wife Kim and their 3 children of East Wakefield, NH. She is also survived by her sisters Jacqueline Pitchford of South Charleston, WV and Monica Hurcombe of Plymouth, MA and several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her son John Zahn and daughter Donna Zahn, her grandsons Zachary Scott and Asher Grumbach and her brother James King.
A funeral will be held on Saturday Oct. 5th at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., in Cornish, Maine with visitation starting at 11 am followed by a service at 12pm.
