Obituary



Auburn – Elaine J. (Bleau) Rynders, 74, of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024 surrounded by her family in the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. The family is grateful for the care and compassion given to Elaine by Dr. Dennis Tighe and the team in the Lakeside 3 cardiac ICU.
Elaine was married for 31 years to the late William J. Rynders, who passed away on May 24, 2021. She is survived by two brothers, Robert Bleau (the late Patty) of El Paso, TX and Paul N. Bleau (the late Irene) of West Boylston; a sister, Denise Parlier (Jon) of Clarendon Hills, IL; her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Sandy Rynders of Wisconsin, her nieces and nephews Michele Switalski, Bryan Rynders, Dustin Rynders, Paul W. Bleau, Normand Bleau, Robert Parlier and Suzanne O'Neill and their spouses and children, a devoted friend of 50 years, Deborah MacKay of Auburn and her two feline companions, Loretta and Lillian. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Wilfred and Loretta (Laurence) Bleau and is also predeceased by a sister, Annette J. Bleau, who passed away in 2020.
Elaine graduated from Holy Name High School and then furthered her education at Worcester State College where she attained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was employed by the College of the Holy Cross for 35 years, serving as Registrar from 1992 until her retirement in 2005. Elaine participated in the transition from a primarily paper-driven student records system to the computerization of student records.
Elaine was a member of North American Martyrs Church and previously belonged to the Cathedral of Saint Paul. She was an avid reader and always looked forward to traveling with her husband especially by train. Elaine was truly the happiest when she was spending time with her family.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday October 1, at 11 AM in North American Martyrs Church 8 Wyoma Drive Auburn. Burial will immediately follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 AM in the church prior to her funeral mass.
