Obituary

Raquel R. Millan passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her son, Fred and daughter-in-law, Gail on September 18th, 2024 in Hillsboro, Oregon after a year long battle with cancer.

She expressed how happy she was to have her daughter, Marguerite and her son, Michael and their families visit her in the last week prior to her passing. She had a joyful surprise party with her friends and family a week before she passed. She was a wonderful and loving mother to us and will be forever missed. We loved her so much and she was our guiding light.

Our mother, Raquel, was born on November, 27th, 1931 in Ventura, California. She was a lifelong resident of Ventura County and most recently lived in Camarillo, California.

Upon her husbands passing, she relocated to Hillsboro, Oregon in 2021 to be with her son and daughter-in-law to be cared for. She said it was very special to be with her son Fred, and daughter-in-law, Gail. She enjoyed frequent visits from her granddaughter and her spouse who lived nearby. They called her “Rackles” as her lifelong partner and husband, Edward J. Millan did. She was an awesome mother for Marguerite, Fred and Michael. She will be forever missed.

Raquel attended St. Catherine’s Academy in Ventura before attending Ventura Junior College.
She was a gifted tennis player earning many awards and accomplishments during her High School and College years. She played with and against future professional tennis players.

Raquel was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and best friend. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She crocheted afghans for each of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her word puzzles and was an avid book reader. Annually she made Christmas pajamas for her many grandchildren.

She was a member and president of the Oxnard Junior Monday Club, a member of the Navy League and the Elks Lodge #1443.
