Lawrence C. Spezzano of West Roxbury, passed away on September 22, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. (Leydon) Spezzano. Devoted father of Douglas L. Spezzano and his wife Analeen of Ellicott City, MD, Lawrence C. Spezzano, Jr., of Southborough, Pamela A. Foster and her husband Robert Foster, Jr., of West Roxbury, and the late Jennifer Spezzano. Dear brother of the late Gaetano J. Spezzano. Loving grandfather of Lillian, Vivienne, Alyssa, and Drew Spezzano, Trevor Foster, and Daniel Wells. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Larry was born in Newton, MA, to Charlie and Lucy Spezzano. Raised on the family farm, he graduated from Newton High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a telephone linesman. Upon completing his service, he returned to Boston, where he met Dotty in a bowling league finals in which her team beat his and she took home the winning trophy. They married on August 19, 1967, and he wished her “Happy Month-a-versary” on the 19th of each month for the next 47 years of their lives together. He worked for “Ma Bell and the baby Bells” for 45 years before his retirement in 2009. He was predeceased by Dotty and spent the rest of his years walking through West Roxbury for up to 10 miles a day and enjoying his grandchildren and extended family.
Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Tuesday, October 1st at 9am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre St., West Roxbury at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
