Obituary

LACONIA ---- Robert ‘Bob’ Casey, 87, of Appleton Street, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Bob was born on April 11, 1937, in Concord, NH, the son of the late Arthur and Georgetta (Wallace) Casey.

He attended Laconia High School and was a member of the Sachem Track Team where he won the State of New Hampshire High Hurdle Championship, setting a state record that stood for many years.

After graduating from Laconia High School, Bob joined the United States Navy where he served from 1955 to 1959. Bob served his country as a “Gunner’s Mate” on the Aircraft Carriers – USS Coral Sea and USS Midway. After his honorable discharge from the US Navy, Bob served his community as a firefighter at the Laconia Fire Department where he reached the rank of Captain.

Bob’s passion was golf. He started the game at the age of 25 and never looked back. He played golf, practiced golf, studied golf, watched golf and followed golf to Florida for 30 winters. He was always (whether you wanted it or not) happy to share his knowledge and expertise of golf by giving helpful hints to his friends or fellow golfers on the course. He loved teaching private golf lessons and holding golf clinics at Bolduc Park, where he developed many beautiful and lasting friendships along the fairways of life.

Bob definitely had a sweet tooth for Joan’s many desserts followed by a nice afternoon nap. When his grandchildren were younger, he always attended their sporting events and as they got older, he enjoyed sharing his favorite music with them, watching old westerns, sports and the Olympics with them. Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1980.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of, 63 years, Joan (Dockham) Casey, daughters Debra Henrie and her husband John and Donna Stivali and her husband Peter; six grandchildren, Peter D. Stivali and wife Darby, Madison Thibodeau and husband Josh, Anna Stivali-McCullough and husband Max, Leah Stivali and significant other Riley Roy, Sam Henrie and Meg Socha and husband Caleb.

There will be no calling hours.
