Deolinda (Duarte Augusta Abreu) Marques, age 90, passed away on September 19, 2024 at Pioneer Valley Health Care Nursing Home in South Hadley. She was born on March 3, 1934 in Portugal, daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Duarte) Abreu. Deolinda worked as a receptionist at a hospital in Portugal, where she met her husband, Albertino A. Marques. After they married and moved to Chicopee, MA, she worked at the Chicopee Mills in a Coat Factory for many years. She also was a caretaker to many local Portuguese children and Families over the years. She was a communicant of the former Holy Name of Jesus Parish and the Chicopee Portuguese American Club. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Albertino A. Marques who passed away in 2021 and her 6 Siblings, Amadeu Abreu, John Abreu, Fernando Abreu, Antonio Abreu and Arthur Abreu, and Maria (Abreu) Albuquerque. She is survived by her son Albert A. Marques of Chicopee along with many nieces, nephews and a large extended family and many friends who will miss her. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Monday, Sept. 30, from 10 - 11 AM at Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by an in house prayer service at 11 AM.
