Robert “Bob” F. Muise of Winchester, MA, formerly of Braintree, passed away while surrounded by family on September 21 at age 91. Bob was born in Boston on November 29, 1932 to Jessie (Cloy) and J. Howard Muise and grew up in Roxbury with his two younger brothers, the late Richard Muise of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Howard Muise of Braintree.
Robert enlisted in the US Navy in 1950. He then attended Northeastern University, earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he returned to the US Navy where he became a commissioned officer, earning his Naval Aviator wings. He was stationed in Pensacola FL as an Advanced Aviation Instructor. During his time in the US Naval Reserves, Bob was stationed at NAS-South Weymouth, rising to Base Reserve Captain. Bob was temporarily assigned as Reserve Commander at NAS Brunswick, ME, and he served as Blue & Gold Officer, providing guidance to prospective Naval Academy candidates. Robert retired from the US Navy in 1982. While in the Navy, he flew the S2F Tracker, F9F Panther, T34 Mentor, SNJ Scout and A-4 Skyhawk.
During his time in the Reserves, Bob participated in multiple startup companies in the field of small electronics. (Microswitch, Pragmatic, Temptronic, Teradyne), and returned to school at Boston University to earn his MBA. In the early 70's, Bob co-founded Tympanium, which focused on chip testing equipment, switches, and small engine voltage regulators, and worked there until his retirement in 1997.
Bob was married to the late Elaine Paradise Muise. In addition to his younger brother Howard, he is survived by his three children: Joseph J. Muise of Plainville, Mary-Alice Green (husband Jonas) of Salem and Anne M. LaSalvia (late partner Robert Bibaud) of Holbrook. Bob is also, survived by Sophia Bowers of Winchester, MA, with whom he enjoyed many years of friendship and happiness. Sophia and Bob were made for each other. Robert was the proudest grandfather to Anthony, Jessica, Caroline, Andrew, Julia, Abby and Eddie.
Bob remained very active in retirement, enjoying tennis in his younger years, getting together with his kids and grandkids, regularly playing golf, and bowling. He volunteered his time through the Jenks Center to drive seniors to appointments, and "had the duty" one Saturday a month at Hanscom Air Force Base. He belonged to The Old Fogies group, the Wardroom Club and ANA Patriot Squadron at the former NAS South Weymouth and participated in a Science and Technology group and the North Shore Computer Society via Zoom, among others. He liked to discuss the latest innovations, configurations and issues, as well as current events, particularly technological ones. The evening news was like a sporting event. Rare it was that he didn't mention some recent deal he had purchased while shopping "the end caps of the internet".
Bob was a friend to everyone he met. He was a patriot and inspiration to many, intelligent, principled and thoughtful, and always thought of others before himself. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones and shared his sense of humor with all. He had the ability to make you feel like the most special person in the world.
Dad, you were the most special person in the world, and you will be deeply missed by all those who were lucky enough to know you!
