Alan D. Poirier, 71, of Cornish, ME, passed away peacefully Saturday September 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME. He was born on August 29, 1953 in Methuen, MA, a son of the late Lionel and Dorothy (Hay) Poirier. Alan proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, receiving the Air medal for his services. While in the Army, he was a gunner on the front lines. Alan later obtained his private pilot license. He worked as a mechanic for several years at the Lawrence, MA Post office.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen J. Grant and her husband James Grant, one niece, Tiffany Ahad and her husband Zubair, and two great nieces, Safiyyah and Aliyya. He was predeceased by his brother William Poirier in 2017.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. The burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, 395 N. Broadway, Haverhill, MA.
