LACONIA ---- Thomas ‘Tom’ George Spooner, Jr., 70, of Church Street, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at home after a brief illness.
Tom was born on April 8, 1954, in Laconia, NH, the son of the late Thomas G. Spooner, Sr. and Ellen Columbia (Denman) Spooner and the grandson of Dr. Arthur A. and Ethel (Jones) Denman.
Tom was a graduate of Laconia High School. He was an avid freshwater and deep-sea fisherman and deer hunter. He lived his life the way he wanted; he was very adventurous. He exuded self-confidence. He had a keen political mind. He could hold conversations with the best of the best. He was successful in many endeavors from his early days providing Martel’s Bait Shop crawfish and worms to working and being “Rattlesnake Tom” at Funspot. He worked various jobs the winery in Gilmanton and was fascinated by wine production. He did heavy concrete construction work for Mas-Con Corp and New Con Builders.
He is survived by his sons Thomas G. Spooner III and Timothy John Spooner, grandson James Caden Patterson, his life partner and mother of his children, Patricia Spooner, his sister Judith Ann Sirles, nephew Eric Thomas Sirles, niece Hope Ellen Spooner, great-niece Alexis A. Spooner and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and wonderful cousins. Along with his parents he is predeceased by his younger sister Esther Elizabeth Esty, brother-in-law Joseph R. Sirles, Sr., his wonderful uncle Raymond Spooner, nephews Joseph C. Spooner and Joseph R. Sirles, Jr., and two cousins.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 1:00pm, at Union Cemetery, 176 Academy Street, Laconia, NH.
A Celebration of Life will follow the burial at the Rod and Gun Club, 385 South Main Street, Laconia, NH.
