Betty Jean Turner Dotson, 78, of Tifton passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Dotson at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest. A eulogy will be given by Rev. Martha Ann Dotson.
Mrs. Dotson’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 12, 1946, in Tifton, Mrs. Dotson was the daughter of the late James E. Turner and Eliza Hallman Turner. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Turner; and three sisters, Bonnie Barrett, Jerrie Noland and Celeste Suggs. Before retiring, she worked at the Georgia Agrirama. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and fishing. She loved her flowers, shopping and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Dotson is survived by her husband of 63 years, William R. Dotson of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Dalon and Vicky Dotson of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Delene and Jim Byers of Tifton; two brothers, Jim Turner of Greenville, South Carolina and Clay Turner of Tifton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Jennifer Dotson, Brad and Haley Dotson, Matt and Shiree Davis, Justin Byers (Jacob), Will Byers (Sheridan) and Cole Byers; and seven great-grandchildren, Maddie Riojas, Greyson Dotson, Camden Dotson, Lanier Dotson, Riley Davis, Daxton Byers and Ben Byers.
