Obituary

Ruth Lena Freedman, age 101, passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2024.
She was the daughter of the late Abraham and Sarah Feinstein. Ruth was predeceased by the love of her life, Phil. She was the beloved mother of Bess Horn (Jeff) and the late Jimmy and Paul Freedman (Merle Adelson). Cherished grandmother of Rachel (Ryan) McEachern, and Phil (Ariana) Horn. Treasured great grandmother of Carter McEachern and Julian Horn.

Ruth graduated from Dorchester High School and Burdett College, and also attended the New England Conservatory of Music.

Aside from being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Ruth was also a life member of Hadassah, an avid reader, an accomplished violinist, and had a green thumb. She was known to have an unbelievable memory. Some people referred to her as Mrs. Google for the enormous amount of interesting information Ruth would accurately recall even when she was over 100 years old.

Ruth was a very special person. She was blessed to have many friends in her life, along with the most caring and loving caretaker/family member, Dorothy. Ruth had a great sense of humor and genuine love and kindness. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Ruth will be remembered not only for her spirit, but for the love, warmth, and joy she brought to the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
