NORTH STONINGTON: James Wilfred Connelly, 80, of North Stonington died Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Westerly Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sally (Francis) Connelly.
Jim was born on July 6, 1944 in New London, the son of Wilfred and Elizabeth Connelly. He grew up in Ledyard and graduated from Norwich Free Academy.
In 1970 he met the person he would spend the rest of his life with. They raised a blended family and also added to the mix.
Jim worked at Electric Boat for 37 yrs as a pipefitter. After leaving EB he worked for a short time for the New London Day and then went to work for Town Fair Tire where he worked for 24 yrs. He almost made retirement there but, illness took him before he could put in his final year. He was a hard worker and a dedicated one. He was one to never complain and was a pleasure to be around.
Gardening was his passion along with collecting baseball cards.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Cynthia Fadden and her husband James Fadden of St Albans Maine, son Richard Morgan of Norwich,, son Sean Morgan of Ledyard, daughter Kelly Jones and her husband Dan Jones of Preston, and April Olive and her husband Christopher Olive of Camden, Arkansas. as well as a sister Joyce McCall of New Mexico. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews
Jim was predeceased by his father Wilfred Connelly and his mother Elizabeth Connelly of Ledyard, his sister Barbara Lurch from Florida, his brother Rodney Connelly of Florida, and also by his daughter Julia Jennings of Ledyard.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 28, at 10:00am at St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck. Burial will be private for the family at a later date.
