Obituary

It is said that home is where the heart is. No truer words can be said of Evelyn LaForge. Indeed her heart and her home were intertwined with her love for her family and those central to her life. For virtually all of her 91 wonderful years she lived Evelyn filled that home with the love of her heart.
Evelyn P. LaForge, 91, of Woonsocket passed away on Thursday September 19, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. LaForge. Evelyn and Robert were married on May 1, 1954 at Precious Blood Church and spent over 58 years together until his passing in November of 2012.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was daughter of the late Gerald and Blanche (Rondeau) Malboeuf. She remained a lifelong resident of the city and lived in the same house for her entire life. She was a graduate of St. Clare Girls High School with the class of 1951.
Evelyn worked as a bank teller for several years at the Industrial National Bank on Main St. in Woonsocket. She also worked for several area grocery stores including United Public Market, Star Market, Mass Food Company and Almacs Supermarkets before retiring.
Evelyn was a lifelong communicant of Precious Blood Parish. She was especially talented at crafts and quilting and enjoyed doing puzzles. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and took many cross country road trips with her husband.
Evelyn relished the different seasons New England has to offer including summers on the southern coast of Maine and viewing the beautiful foliage of New Hampshire and Vermont during autumn. Evelyn’s taste in music was a throwback to her youth as she listened from the classics to the big bands of the 1950s and 1960s.
Evelyn will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother and cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a quiet lady whose home and heart were open to all of her family and friends.
