Obituary

HEALEY, Richard Anthony “Dick,” age 86, of West Roxbury, passed away on September 20, 2024. He will be missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Eleanor (Crowley) Healey; his daughter, Dr. Jennifer A. Healey, and her husband, Lukasz Weber, of Santa Clara, California; his daughter, Kristina M. Ierardi, and her husband, Chris, of Bourne, MA; his son, Brian J. Healey, and his wife, Amy, of Laconia, NH; his four grandsons, Eric Ierardi, Sean Weber, Oliver Weber, and Peter Weber; and by his extended family and friends.

Dick succumbed to glioma just days shy of his 87th birthday. He was born in Lynn on October 2, 1937, to John Francis and Alma (Gaudet) Healey. He studied piano and singing with his brothers, Bob and Wally, and his sister, Mary. He served as an altar boy at the early morning Mass at St. Mary’s Parish for many years. He played football and baseball at Lynn Classical High School and was a member of their championship track team. After graduating in 1955, he attended St. John’s Seminary and later graduated from Boston College. He served as a Specialist 4th Class (E-4) in the U.S. Army at Fort Davis, Panama, from 1959 to 1962, and he also played baseball for the Army’s 2nd Battle Group, 10th Infantry. Dick worked professionally as both a social worker for public service agencies and a planner for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), but performing music and songwriting were always his passions. He shared his talents with family and residents of local nursing homes for many years. When not writing on the computer or playing the piano, Dick enjoyed relaxing and dining along the beaches of Nahant, Lynn, and Ogunquit, ME.
