Obituary

John “Dick” Richard Kenyon, 73, of Auburn, NH, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born on May 30, 1951, in Lowell, MA, a son of the late John and Shirley (Pickard) Kenyon. He had been a resident of Auburn for the past 14 years, formerly living in Manchester. Dick was raised and educated in Dracut, MA. He received his degree from Plymouth State College, Majoring in Physical Science.

Dick’s passions included all things racing, bowling, fishing and golfing. Growing up he spent his summers on Lake Winnipesaukee sailing and working at the family snack shack. Family was everything to Dick. Many memories were made at the new family lake home on Lake Winnisquam, memories that will last for generations to come. He was famous for his lake breakfasts.

He started working early at the YMCA and mentored many children and taught swimming. He maintained friendships with these folks to this day. He later worked at Benson’s Ski & Sport for 31 years and considered the Benson’s his second family. During these years he devoted time and energy to give back with Special Olympics. He always said you don’t work a day in your life, if you love what you’re doing. That applied especially when he retired and started working with his boys, John and Chris, at their business, Kenyon Lawn. This was the “time of his life” helping the boys reach their dream.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Anne-Marie (Sweeney) Kenyon of Auburn; three sons, John P. and his wife Robecca Kenyon of Epsom, NH, and Christopher Kenyon of Auburn, NH; Robert and his wife Angela Kenyon of Worcester, MA, his daughter, Kristenann Kenyon of Manchester, NH; three grandchildren, Kinsley Kenyon, Estaban Andino, and Trinity Kenyon.
