Elissa J. “Lisa” (Borgess) Navarro, 60, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on September 16th, surrounded by her loving family.
Lisa is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, William Navarro; her cherished children, Allen Navarro and his wife, Carol of Costa Rica; Pablo Navarro and his wife, Ashley of Spencer; Jessica Navarro of Costa Rica; Michelle Navarro and her boyfriend Bao Nguyen of Worcester; Kristopher Navarro and his girlfriend Alyssa Rogers of Worcester. She leaves behind her beloved sisters, Sharon and her husband Bob Jacques, and Kelly Lucci; her brother Teddy Macjewski; as well as six adoring grandchildren: Emily, Hillary, Nyomi, Camilla, Evan, Abigail, and a grandchild on the way, whom she was eagerly anticipating. She is also survived by nephews Christian Navarro and Alex Crespo, and brother-in-law Marco Navarro. Lisa was predeceased by her brother, Paul Macjewski of Northbridge, and her mother and father, Madeleine and Gaetan Messier of Canada.
Born in Malden, Massachusetts, Lisa was adopted and raised in Cowansville, Canada, by her loving parents, Madeleine and Gaetan Messier. She graduated from Burncoat High School and continued her education at Becker College, dedicating her career to service. For the past three years, Lisa served as a Patient Service Representative in the Endocrinology Department at St. Vincent Hospital. Her previous roles included managing the Mailing Department at Fallon Health, where she excelled as a leader, and working in patient services at Reliant Health.
A devoted member of St. Peter/St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Lisa found joy in attending Sunday services with her family. She was an active volunteer with the Election Committee, always ready to lend a helping hand to her community. Lisa had a creative spirit, enjoying sewing and crafting beautiful stuffed animals and quilts for her loved ones. She cherished making stained glass with her sister, painting, and riding bikes with her husband, sister and brother-in-law.
Music was a profound passion for Lisa; she loved singing and dancing, with karaoke nights being a highlight of her life, especially when performing "¡Basta Ya!" by Olga Tañón. She had a deep love for travel, especially to Costa Rica, where she and William had recently built their dream home and planned to retire. Her visits to Canada were also very special to her, often including trips to the radio station “Moo-92.” Adventurous by nature, Lisa eagerly anticipated new travels and experiences with her husband and family.
Above all, Lisa’s greatest joy was her pets and her family, she embraced every moment spent with them. She was a nurturing mother and grandmother, always supporting her children in their endeavors and celebrating their achievements. Family gatherings were filled with laughter and love, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Her compassionate spirit, artistic talent, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services and burial at Hope Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
