Verla Mae Smith Tucker, 78, of Brookfield passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Tim Henry and the Rev. Jimmy Stone officiating. Mrs. Tucker will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born February 28, 1946, in Wilcox County, Mrs. Tucker was the daughter of the late Claude C. Smith and Tessie Helms Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John “Tuck” Tucker, Jr.; and one brother, Johnny Smith. Before retiring, she had worked at Prestolite in Tifton for 25 years; and she was a member of Independent Worship Center in Tifton.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Marie and Ken Gaskins of Enigma; two grandsons, David Gaskins of Enigma and Robert and Mackinzie Gaskins of Adel; two great-grandchildren, Rosalie Gaskins and Jackson Gaskins; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and April Tucker of Enigma; a niece, Chrisanna Carper of Jesup; and a nephew, John Tucker of Tifton.
