Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has identified the remains of United States Army Private Kwack Keung Woo, 31, who was born in China on Sunday, June 15, 1913. He served our country during World War II in the United States Army with the rank of Private and was killed in action near Biesdorf, Germany on Friday, February 9, 1945. He was the husband of the late Shun Kam (Wong) Woo. He leaves his son, Ping Chiu Woo and his wife, Sue King Woo, of Chicopee; his three grandchildren, Vincent Woo and his wife, Karen, of Palos Verdes, CA, Cynthia Yee and her husband, Thomas, of Watertown, MA, and Celinda Woo and her partner, Patrick Eady, of Longmeadow; his great-grandchildren, Brian Woo and his wife, Becca, and their son, Griffin, Jon Woo and his wife, Sarah, Evan Yee and his companion, Leah, Vanessa Yee, Jasmine Mae Papoutsakis and her husband, Vugar Abdullayev, and Nikolas Papoutsakis. His remains were returned to Western Massachusetts on Thursday, September 19, 2024 with Military Honors at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. A procession to the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam will begin on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 12 noon from the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
