Marilyn (Davies) Skinner

Marilyn (Davies) Skinner, 93, of Chesterfield passed away on September 18, 2024 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born on July 7, 1931 in Elwood, IN the daughter of Thomas J. and Bernice (Blake) Davies. She graduated from Wendell Willkie High School in 1949. In 1950, she married her husband of 67 years, Vernard Eugene Skinner.
She worked as a secretary at Carbide Grinding Company and she walked to work every day for 26 years. She was also the co-owner of Gold’s Cabinet Shop in Chesterfield.
She was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church. She enjoyed roller skating until she was in her 80’s. She loved her family, grandchildren, and kids. She enjoyed fundraising for different causes throughout the community. She was active with Optimist Club of Chesterfield events alongside her husband, Vern.
She is survived by her five children, Terra Skinner (Keith Alexander), Kevin (Candy) Skinner, Rhonda (Robert) Kimm, Stacey Skinner (Curt) Nickel, and Cindy Todd; three siblings, Martha J. Ashba, David Davies, and Eldon (Carol) Wentz; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernard Eugene Skinner; her father, Thomas J. Davies; her mother, Bernice Davies Wentz; her son-in-law, Michael Todd; and her four siblings, Arwyn Davies, Margaret Benak, Catherine Pethoud, and Nancy Haines.
Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Chesterfield Christian Church with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Christian Church, Riley’s Children Hospital, or Alzheimer’s Association.
