Obituary

Richmond Fuller Reed, loving husband of the late Helen P. Reed and longtime resident of Westport, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on September 14, 2024 at the age of 91. Richmond is survived by his two daughters Susan E. Taylor (late Roger W. Taylor) and Lori Lima (Edward F. Lima), as well as four grandchildren; the late Andrew S. Taylor, Krista E. Lima, Kelsey E. Lima, and Adam R. Lima. He was the son of the late Harold and Elizabeth Olive Reed.

Richmond served overseas in the Air Force during the Korean War. Later he also worked at Otis Air Force base and Newport Navy Base and then retired from Civil Service. He remained in the workforce for an additional 20 years and permanently retired at 81 years old. In his youth Richmond was active in 4H and won many awards for his prize cows. Richmond’s hobbies included boating, camping, fishing, hunting, and exploring the Maine woods on ATV’s accompanied by his sweetheart, Helen and often his children and grandchildren. Additionally, as an avid animal lover and advocate he rescued several Dobermans over his lifetime. Richmond led a very full life and remained a wonderfully dedicated family man until his last breath.

Richmond and Helen’s memorial will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery in Westport, MA on October 16, 2024 at 11:00 am. We will celebrate their lives on the anniversary of their very first date over 70 years ago.
