Antonino Maitino of Stoneham passed away on September 15, 2024. He was 88 years old. Antonino was the beloved husband of the late Letizia (Inglese) Maitino. Born in Miranda, Italy, he was the cherished son of the late Domenico and Rafaela (Marzano) Maitino.
Antonino retired from Star Market, after a career spanning more than 40 years, working in the distribution department. He was a member of the Teamsters Union-Local 25, located in Charlestown, MA. Antonino was a life member of the Watertown Sons of Italy-Lodge #1036.
Papa was passionate about Italian music, played the accordion and was often called upon to share his beautiful voice, singing at weddings and other social occasions. He loved hockey and was an avid Bruins fan. Tony’s favorite season was Summer, when he would often be found at Wingaersheek Beach enjoying Nana’s amazing cooking with family and close friends like the Pizzi’s and Tortola’s and then continuing the party back home the same day through dinner on the patio. Later in life, he looked forward to long days on Cape Cod’s Mayflower Beach and relaxing with family.
Family was the core of Tony’s life, and his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren was known to all. He went to great strides to make sure we were all cared for, felt loved, and protected. Sunday dinners were the highlight of his week, as we shared Nanna’s delicious meals, talked about our latest accomplishments, challenges and dreams and reflected on many funny stories as he laughed infectiously.
Antonino was the devoted father of Domenic A. Maitino and his wife Kathleen of Stoneham and Lucia Maitino Casella of Nashua, NH. He was the adored grandfather of Charles L. Casella II and his wife Alyshia, Angelina (Casella) Doherty and her husband Donovan, Miranda Maitino and her fiancé Keenan Dwyer and Juliana (Maitino) Wiedenfeld and her husband David and the loving great-grandfather of Charlotte “Charlie” and Anthony Cassella. Antonino was the dear brother of Assunta Maitino of Italy, the late Angelo Maitino, and Alberto Maitino.
