Jacqueline A. (McLaughlin) Cavanaugh, age 67, of Middleboro, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Brockton Hospital. Jacqueline was the loving wife of the late Dennis Cavanaugh. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Carol A. (King) McLaughlin.
Raised in Brockton, Jacqueline was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1974. For many years she was an administrative assistant for the Middleboro School Department where she helped countless students make their way through difficult times. During the summer break she worked for a special needs summer program in Middleboro where she made lifelong connections with the children she helped.
Jacqueline was a loving, caring and gentle soul who was devoted to her family, especially her sons and her siblings. She enjoyed crafts, the beach and spending time with her grandson. Nothing lit up her world like her family and the impact she made on their lives is immeasurable. She will be missed dearly by many friends and colleagues of the Middleboro Public Schools.
Jacqueline is survived by her sons Michael Cavanaugh and his wife Lauren of Fairhaven and Daniel Cavanaugh of Carver, her grandchildren Logan Cavanaugh, Logan Powers and Riley Powers. She was the sister of Deborah Burgess and her husband Marty of Brockton, Carolann McLaughlin of Brockton, Gloria Biron of South Boston and Steven Kilroy and his wife Deborah of Brockton. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and her lifelong best friend Susan Jarusevicius.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Friday, September 20 from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10am, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
Following the burial, there will be a reception at the Randolph Elks Lodge, 21 School Street, Randolph.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jacqueline’s name to the Middleborough Public Schools Special Education Department. Checks may be made payable to Middleborough Public Schools Special Education Department and mailed to Shannon Precourt at the Henry B. Burkland Elementary School, 41 Mayflower Avenue, Middleborough, MA 02346.
