Peter Ferrini, 91, of Derry, NH passed away Monday, September 16, 2024, in his home surrounded by loving family. Born in Brockton, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. Peter Ferrini, MD and Adelina (DiPersio) Ferrini.
Peter grew up in both Brockton and Belmont, MA. He attended Belmont high school for three years where he was an accomplished track and field athlete, becoming New England Champion in the low hurdles. He went on to graduate from the Borden Town Military Institute of New Jersey.
Peter joined the Air Force earning his wings as a gunner in the Korean War. After his service was completed, he became a skilled electrician working at Quincy Dynamics Shipyard, the Boston Naval Shipyard, and United States Air Base in San Antonio, Texas where he eventually retired from. Peter also spent time as a real estate broker, a truck driver, and as his most beloved job, a bus driver for special needs students.
A man of many passions, Peter enjoyed writing fervent opinion letters on a laundry list of subjects to the local newspapers under his alias of the “Spicy Meatball”. These letters were a true depiction of his intelligence and understanding of the written word. He also immensely enjoyed the game of pool, even if he did sometimes embellish his level of play. However, he always seemed the most at peace when cooking large meals for his family. His amazing beef stew will be missed by all who have tasted it.
The greatest joy for Peter was his family. He will be immeasurably missed by his wife of 70 years, Gloria (Valdez) Ferrini whom he shared a lifetime of memories and love with. Peter is survived not only by his loving wife, but by his son Peter and wife Linda Ferrini of Edgartown, MA and his daughter Adelina (Lena) and her husband Patrick O’Connor of Derry, NH. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Karla Ferrini of Westford, MA. Peter also leaves behind his grandchildren Kasey and her husband Brandon Carr, Peter Ferrini, Dino Ferrini, and Sam Ferrini. Peter was the beloved great grandfather of Adelina and Elowyn Carr. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his sister Judith Rooney as well as his youngest son, Dino Ferrini.
There will be no calling hours. All who knew him are welcome to attend his burial Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:30pm at the VA National Cemetery on Connery Avenue in Bourne, MA. A reception will take place immediately following the burial ceremony at the Lobster Trap Restaurant at 290 Shore Rd in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Stephen J.
