Ronald R. Cote, age 71, most recently of North Attleboro, a former lifelong resident of Norton, passed away peacefully and comfortably at home, surrounded by the care and devotion of his loving family on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
Born in Boston, MA on August 26, 1953, he was a loving son of the late Ralph W. and Lucille M. (Phaneuf) Cote.
Ron grew up and was educated in Norton. He was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Feehan High School, where he played football and swam. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country for two years in the United States Marine Corps.
The majority of Ron’s working career was spent as a Computer Technician for the Federal Aviation Administration. Family was the center of his life and while his children were growing up, coaching Norton Youth Soccer was a special part of his life. Ron was an avid and diehard New England sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed and had so much fun as a member of the Rolling Thunder Gaming/Racing Club.
He is survived by his devoted and loving son, Dennis E. Freeman and his wife Monica of Norton. He was the cherished and proud grandfather of Tyler, Mariyah, Gabriella, Roland, Juliana, Ayvah, Kaden and Madelyn. He was the former husband of Karen P. Freeman.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, September 22nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street, (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
A committal service with military honors will take place on Monday, September 23 at 10:45 A.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Those attending the commital services on Monday are please asked to go directly to the Massachusetts National Cemetery and arrive by 10:30 A.M.
Due to the 3-piece limitation of flowers allowed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Ronald’s family has requested that contributions in his memory be made to the New England Center and Home for Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.
