Obituary

Mark A. Holbrook, 66, of Whitman Massachusetts passed away suddenly in his home on
September 14, 2024.

Born in Virginia in 1957, he was the first-born son of the late Gordon Holbrook and Beverly Holbrook. Mark grew up in the town of Braintree Massachusetts where he attended high school before joining the United States Navy in 1976. He proudly served 20 years before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1996. Then for 10 years Mark worked as an executive for Signature Flight Support and Manager at Swissport Fueling Inc at Logan International Airport.

Outside of work, Mark was an avid Boston sports fan and had a passion for history. He loved his audio books, especially those pertaining to the military and historical events. One of Mark’s favorite hobbies were metal detecting. He loved the hunt and had accumulated a large collection of civil war related artifacts which he found himself while detecting all over Massachusetts. In his later years, Mark most enjoyed spending time with his beloved Grandson and late nights fishing on the beach with his son.

Mark enjoyed 43 years of Marriage to his beloved wife Mary (Hartigan) Holbrook prior to his passing. He was the brother of the late Michelle Delaney and husband Robert Delaney of Brockton, and Steven Holbrook of Kingston. He leaves behind three children, Daniel Holbrook, Matthew Holbrook, and Catherine Holbrook of Whitman, and one Grandchild, Shawn Holbrook of Whitman, as well as many nieces and nephews

Family and friends are invited to attend Mark’s visiting hours Thursday, September 19th from 4:00-7:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A burial will take place Friday, September 20th at 10:45 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9 am. Everyone is invited back following the burial to the VFW in Whitman from 2:00-6:00 PM for a celebration of life.
