Timothy John “TJ” Moran, 78, passed away suddenly at his home in Ojai, California, on September 13, 2024.
Born on January 25, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, T.J. was the son of the late Edgar G. and Betty I. (Jones) Moran, and brother to Linda (Moran) Verboomen of Appleton, Wisconsin. T.J. was a devoted husband of 21 years to Kathy (Swanson) Moran, a loving father to Lindsey R. Moran of Los Angeles, California, and step-father to Elizabeth A. (Ellis) Moubry of Jacksonville, Florida.
T.J. grew up in Canfield, Ohio and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1968 from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, PA. He began his career as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, California, and went on to work in engineering management at Tracor Aviation. He made many lifelong friends throughout his 42-year career, ultimately retiring from Raytheon in 2010 as a Project Manager.
T.J. was an avid scuba diver, diligently logging 1,136 dives during his 52 years enjoying the sport. He was also a dedicated model airplane enthusiast, who was a long-time member of the Santa Barbara RC Modelers and the Ventura County Comets.
He was a man of profound dedication to his family and friends. T.J. and his legacy of kindness, humor and enthusiasm will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by everyone whose life he has touched. However, not a single lobster we interviewed was upset about his passing.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial, to be held at noon on October 26, at Lake Casitas near the Coyote Boat Ramp at Picnic Area 12.
