Michael Earle Gibbs, 72, of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 16, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Henderson Chapel Cemetery in Irwin County Georgia, with Elder Mike DeVane officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Gibbs was born December 4, 1951, to the late J.R. & Grace Gibbs. He lived all of his life on his family farm in Irwin County. He worked for many years with Lowell Packing Company in Fitzgerald and Target Distribution Center in Tifton, from which he retired. Mr. Gibbs lived a very simple, routine life that was spent with family and friends. After his retirement one might see him visiting Ocilla Meat Market or enjoying a meal with friends at Peck’s Place. He also had a group of lifelong friends that he enjoyed visiting with at Tift County Lanes in Tifton, Georgia.
Celebrating holidays and special occasions with family was also important and he took pleasure in those times. Mr. Gibbs attended Henderson Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County and held a special love for his church family.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Billi & Ken Faust; granddaughter, Lindi Faust; grandson, Peyton Faust; brothers and sisters-in-law: Keith & Connie Gibbs of Crawfordville, Florida and Reggie & Dixie Gibbs of Ocilla; nieces: Keri & Andrew Tucker and Haley & Ashley Spell, all of Ocilla and Leia & Chris Wilkerson of Alabama; nephews: Aaron & Kara Gibbs, Dacey Gibbs, all of Florida; and several great nieces and nephews that he adored.
