James E. “Jim” Young, 74, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Young was born June 14, 1950, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Eston & Doris Watson Young. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Mr. Young worked in the plastics industry for many years as a plant manager for Aeroquip in Williamsport, Maryland and in Fitzgerald, as a plant manager in North Carolina and was also sales representative for Custom Profiles. Mr. Young enjoyed spending time on the farm with his horse, Bob, and his mule, Leroy. He was rarely without his faithful dog, Buster. And he loved the moments he shared with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice Luke Young of Fitzgerald; children: Jon & Laura Young of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeff & Shelley Young of North Augusta, South Carolina and Jennifer & Kyle Howell of Tifton; grandchildren: Jackson, Lillian, Evelyn, Andrew, Louis, Mack and Iris Anne; and a brother, Jerry & Felecia Young of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Young.
