Anthony Joseph Penta, Sr., age 68, of Medford passed away on Friday, September 13th at Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston. Born in Cambridge, he was a lifelong Medford resident, son of the late Anthony N. and Adelaide (Landi) Penta. Anthony was the owner and operator of A&R Food Service in Boston for many years, and also dabbled in real-estate. In his spare time, he was an amateur (Ham) radio operator with the call sign N1AP.
Anthony was the beloved husband of Mary (Brown) Penta, and the devoted father of Anthony J. Penta, Jr. and his wife Alicia, and Ashley Guertin and her husband Timothy. He was the loving grandfather of Anthony III, Damian and Maverick, and the dear brother of Robert Penta, his late wife Linda and his current wife Susan. Anthony was predeceased by his brother Richard Penta and his wife Rene Murphy, and is survived by his niece Kim Mitchell and her husband Patrick, as well as his long-time employee and side kick Frankie Beaulieu, and friends Robert Shotwell, John Shotwell, Jonny Bonacorso, and Richard Finocciaro and many more loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Anthony’s family in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford on Saturday, September 21st from 10 AM through 2 PM, concluding with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 2 PM.
