Tien Van Vo, 68, of Worcester passed on Tuesday, September 10th at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife, Hong K. Vo; a son, Jimmy Thuong Vo and his wife, Tiffany Y-Anh Tran; a daughter, Minnie T. Vo and her husband, Julius E. Blakeny; two grandchildren, Kittiana Tuyet-Nhi Vo and Katalina Tien-Nhi Vo; four siblings; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by three children, Binh Vo, Hoang Dan Vo, and Diem T. Vo.
He was born in Rach Gia, Vietnam. Tien worked as a machinist and welder for many years. Tien lived a simple, fulfilling life, especially after retirement. He cherished the little things—helping his wife, taking peaceful walks, tending to the garden, and indulging in scratch tickets and YouTube videos. But above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones.
Reflecting on our time together, it’s clear that while we may not have had everything, we had more than we could have ever wished for. Despite life’s challenges, including the loss of three of my older siblings before arriving in America, we never felt as though we lacked anything. That’s because between my dad and mom, they always found a way to make life meaningful and full of love for my brother and me.
Both my parents woke up every day, worked hard until retirement, and never once complained. They were the quiet pillars of strength and resilience in our family.
Tien believed deeply in the power of authenticity. He encouraged everyone to live their lives as their truest, happiest selves, always supporting those around him to do whatever was necessary to find joy. He loved in a way that was subtle but profound, leaving an impact on all who knew him. His gentle wisdom and quiet encouragement will forever be a part of the lives he touched.
His visitation is Monday, September 16th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. His funeral will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17th in the funeral home. Cremation will follow in Rural Crematory, 180 Grove Street, Worcester.
