Porter – Irene D. Norton of Porter, age 81, passed away September 12, 2024, at Maine Medical Center.
Irene was born November 3, 1942, to parents Eurtie (Harmon) and Herbert Frost Sr. She grew up attending Porter schools and married her husband of 61 years, Lester H. Norton Sr. She was a homemaker and lovingly raised her children. Irene had strong faith and attended Kezar Falls Assembly of God Church for many years. Irene had an immense dedication to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether it be the many years working side by side with her husband to manage the family farm, tending her many flower gardens, or working her vegetable gardens in preparation for canning. Irene enjoyed cooking for her family, and others, and it was evident the meals were made with love and many years of perfection. In her later years, she truly enjoyed family gatherings where she could have all generations of the family together.
Irene is preceded in death by her loving husband Lester H. Norton Sr., parents Herbert Sr. and Eurtie Frost, an infant daughter Annette, as well as her siblings Herbert Jr., Eubern, Clyde, Bernard, Kenneth, Maxine, Blanche, and Hazel.
Irene is survived by her children Lester Jr. of Porter, Lucille and her husband David Reed of Fryeburg, Glen and his wife Melissa of Porter, Cynthia and her husband Mark DeBlois of Smithfield, RI, and John of Porter, her sister Thelma of Fryeburg, as well as 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a public graveside service on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1 pm at the Stanley Cemetery, Rt. 160, in South Hiram, Maine.
