Obituary

Elcock, Ellen (Lindsay), 93, of Westwood, formerly of Brookline, MA. September 12, 2024. Beloved wife of 47 years to the late Walter. Dear mother to Ted, and his wife Rhonda of Needham; James, and his wife Kathleen of Dedham; William, and his wife Susan of Wellesley; Thomas, and his wife Pamela of Medfield; the late John, and his wife Cynthia of Brookline; Michael, and his wife Lise of Needham; Ellen O'Malley, and her husband John of Manhattan; and Annie Jessup, and her husband Mark of Westwood. Predeceased by her parents Etta O'Toole and the Honorable James Lindsay and her sister Patricia Shea.

Ellen was born in Baltimore, MD and attended Bryn Mawr School, class of 1948 and Manhattanville College, class of 1952 before meeting and marrying Walter and moving to Brookline to start their large family. While raising her eight children, Ellen successfully launched her own residential real estate firm; traveled the world extensively with Walter, former president of the USTA & ITF; and especially enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Squam Lake in Center Harbor, NH. Former member of the Chilton Club, Emory Bag, Badminton & Tennis Club, Junior League and Longwood Cricket Club, Ellen was also a season ticket holder of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished bridge player, avid reader, passionate gardener and expert needle pointer, Ellen spent her later years with dear friends at Fox Hill Village and her special companion Bayard Henry.

But by far, Ellen's greatest joy was her children and their spouses, 24 grandchildren and the still expanding next generation of ten great grandchildren.
