Leon Estalee Johnson, II, 41, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, in Irwin County, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Monday, September 16, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Pastor Luke Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Leon was born August 5, 1983, in Tifton, Georgia, to Leon E. & Georgia Hobbs Johnson. He was a graduate of Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove, Texas where he excelled in athletics. He attended Fort Hays State University in Kansas on a football scholarship. Leon served his country honorably in the United States Army, earning the rank of E-4. He was an avid fisherman, especially bass, and carried his fishing gear with him at all times in case he spotted a water hole. He enjoyed working on cars and watching his children play sports.
He is survived by his parents, Leon & Georgia Johnson of Fitzgerald; his children: Aubrianna Vivar, William Vivar, and Jocelyn Johnson, and their mother, Cassandra Cruz Johnson; a brother, James S. & Beth Johnson of Fitzgerald; a sister, Jessica & SFC Jaime Garmon of Clarksville, Tennessee, temporarily stationed in Korea; his grandmother, Judy Williamson; nieces and nephews: Eli Johnson, Easton Johnson, Ella Johnson, Dean Garmon, and Lee Garmon; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Edward Hobbs, Steve E. Johnson, Ruby Swellen, J.W. Martin, and James Williamson.
