Andrew I. Grieve, Jr, age 63, of Norton and Rehoboth, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 10, 1960, he was a loving son of the late Andrew I., Sr and Kathleen D. (Hawley) Grieve.
At the age of five, his family moved to the United States, first settling in Mansfield. He later moved to Norton, was a 1979 graduate of Norton High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Andy recently retired in May of 2024 and the majority of his working career was spent at Rolls Royce in Walpole, retiring as a Quality Control Manager. He also spent over twenty years as a Firefighter for the Town of Rehoboth, protecting the community he loved so dearly, retiring in 2022 with the rank of Lieutenant.
Andy’s favorite times were those spent amongst family and friends, especially at “Putts Place”, his home in Eustis, Maine. He was passionate about four-wheeling and fishing and was a longtime member of the Norton VFW Post 8049.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Gillian J.J. Grieve of Norton. He was the dear brother of Bridget Grieve-Carlson and her husband Gary of Annville, Pennsylvania, Rita Cronin of Rehoboth, Mary Soper of Norton, Cecilia “CC” Arbour of Attleboro, Patrick Grieve and his wife Monica of Norton, Jacqueline Grieve Linblad and her husband Eric of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Theresa Giblin and her husband Patrick of Attleboro, David Grieve and his companion Atsuko of Bedford and the late Winifred Walker and Edward Grieve. He was the dear and special friend of Lisa Merriam and is also survived by his much-loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours with Firefighters Honors on THURSDAY, September 19th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on SATURDAY, September 21st at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial with Firefighters and Military Honors will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Andrew’s family would prefer that donations in his memory be made to the Rehoboth Call Firefighters Association, 334 Anawan Street, Rehoboth, MA 02769.
