Johnny C. Hopson, 74, of Mystic, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 11,2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Valley Grove Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Hopson was born January 31, 1950, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Mitchell & Mary Etta Cannady Hopson. He graduated from Irwin County High School in 1969 and worked for Union Camp-Exopack for 26 years. Mr. Hopson loved shrimping, fishing and family get togethers.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene Handley Hopson of Mystic; his children: Allen Lee Hopson & Cindy of Mystic, Angela Clements & Tim of Mystic and Steven Hopson & Angelia of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Kylie Reid Clements, Kolton Hopson and Zayden Hopson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings and spouses: Mitchell Glen Hopson, Bernice Hopson Sutton & Harry Louis, Essie Bell Hopson Dosch & Leonard and Montyle Hopson Farmer & Elvin.
