Jeanette Browning Spikes, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully on her 91st birthday, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Mrs. Spikes was born September 11, 1933, in Lakeland, Georgia, to the late Lewis & Harriet Skinner Browning. She was co-owner of Spikes Grocery Store, where she worked alongside of her husband many years.
She is survived by her children: Shirley S. Scriven & Peter of Farnborough Hampshire, England, Helen Johnson of Fitzgerald, Linda Pass of Valdosta and Kenneth Spikes & Emily of Lawrenceville; grandchildren: Wade A. Shinholser of Fitzgerald, Jennifer J. Shinholser of Louisville, Kentucky, Dana G. King of Dublin, Adrianne A. Adams of Fitzgerald, Jarrod Pass of Guyton, Lindi Chambers of Fitzgerald, Kristin Stone of Nashville, Kayla Spikes of Murrayville, Lauren Lynch & Brendan of Loganville, Michael Spikes & Christina of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Harrison Spikes of Lawrenceville and Garrett Spikes of Maple Grove, Minnesota; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Spikes, Jr.; a son, Carlton Spikes; a sister, Louise Stone and two brothers: D.J. Browning and L.J. Browning.
