John J. Began, a lifelong Woburn resident passed sudden and unexpectedly, Tuesday, September 10, 204, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. He was 72. John was the beloved husband of Karen (Annunziata) Began and together they shared 39 years of marriage. Born in Winchester he was the son of the late Timothy E. and Anne E. (Holloran) Began III.
"Zooma" as he was affectionately known to friends and family, was a graduate of Woburn High School with the class of 1970. He owned and operated Zooma Catering of Woburn for many years prior to his retirement. In his leisure time, Zooma loved and enjoyed listening to music, attending shows, traveling to Aruba and Las Vegas, taking cruises always with friends and family. Zooma enjoyed having a goodtime, telling jokes and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife Karen, Zooma is survived by his siblings, Cherished brother of Timothy Began and his wife Cheryl of North Conway, NH, Elaine Began of Woburn, Richard Began and his wife Doreen of Woburn. He is further survived by many loving and adored nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, September 17th, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
