Obituary

Mr. John C. Schwing, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Burke) Schwing, passed away in Texas, following a brief illness. He was 92 year old.

John is survived by his loving children; Michael B. and his wife Christine M. Schwing of Salem, New Hampshire, Terrance P. and his wife Pamela A. Schwing of Dunedin, Florida and Moira P. and her husband John E. Spalten of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren; Brian, Kevin, Christopher, Kelly, Megan and Colin, great-grandchildren; Rylee and Makenzee and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard and Joseph Schwing and Nancy Martin.

John was a proud US Navy Veteran, entering the military at Bainbridge, Maryland on March 16, 1955 and received his honorable discharge from Rhode Island. John was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his exemplary service. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus in Andover and was a longtime communicant of St. Augustine Church where he volunteered extensively. He also volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program. A wonderful storyteller, John would alway's have everyone in the room listening and laughing at his stories. He loved to eat at the 99 Restaurants and always had his martini at 5 PM. He will be dearly missed.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Interment, with military honors, will be held in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
