Jack B. Abbott, 81, of Tifton passed away Monday, September 9, 2024, at his residence. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Abbott at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Abbott will be laid to rest at a later date.
Born August 26, 1943, in Tifton, Mr. Abbott was the son of the late Frances Lieupo Abbott and the Rev. Robert Henry Abbott, Sr. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Abbott and Bill Abbott. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1961 and from the University of Georgia in 1967. He was a retired educator.
He loved spending time with his family; spending time “across the creek”; enjoyed nature and following the weather forecast. He also enjoyed documenting his life and memories in his short stories, to the delight of his grandchildren.
Mr. Abbott is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Patton Abbott; one daughter and son-in-law, Keily and Alan Parrish of Ty Ty; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryce and Debra Abbott of Tifton; one brother, Bobby Abbott of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His grandchildren and their spouses are, LizAnn and Justin Bentley, Alli Parrish and Sarah Nuzzo, Josh and Anna Abbott, Jenalee and Rene Pimentel, Alex and Caroline Abbott, Zach and Lucy Abbott and Blaze Abbott, all of Tifton and his great-grandchildren, Theo Pimentel, Oliver Pimentel, Tilly Bentley, Norah Bentley, Ellis Abbott, Evan Abbott and McCoy Abbott. He was looking forward to the birth of another great-grandchild, Baby Boy Pimentel.
