Obituary

Richard E. "Dick" Pike
June 5, 1939-September 7, 2024

Richard E. (Dick) Pike, age 85, left this earthly life on September 7, 2024, following an extended illness. He leaves behind the love of his life, Donna, wife of 63 years. Surviving include daughters Debbie Love (Lance), Kathy Little (Phil), grandson Christopher Rigsby (Carrie), and great-grandchildren Ralph, Nellie, and Eddie Rigsby. He is also survived by brother Jim Pike (Susan), sister Judy Coy (Lynn), sister-in-law Barbara Childs and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, O. Earl and Florence Pike.

Raised in Terre Haute, Dick attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology where he lettered all four years in football. Upon graduation, he served his country as an Officer in the United States Army before working for the Delco-Remy division of General Motors. Dick had a long and storied career of over 50 years. In the twilight of his career, he was dubbed “The Professor” by his leaders and colleagues.

Dick faithfully attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church where he served in numerous leadership roles. He taught Sunday School in the children’s department for over 50 years and led the church choir, where he faithfully continued to sing until his final days.

An avid airplane enthusiast, he was always ready for an adventure in the Cessna 172 he flew, whether for travel or leisure. Dick and Donna loved to travel across the United States and throughout the continents, frequently aboard cruise ships. They enjoyed Bridge and dinners with friends. Family was of the utmost importance, and the happiest times were spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Throughout his accomplished life, Dick steadfastly loved the Lord, and his life serves as a witness to our resurrected Christ.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Noon at the Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 119 E. 36th Street, Anderson. Visitation with the family will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.

Interment will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery following the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
