Janice Carney, age 85, a resident of Billerica Ma. died Saturday, September 7, 2024. She spent most of her life in Lowell Ma. and moved to Billerica Ma. 18 yrs. ago. She was the wife of the late Joseph Carney who passed away in January of 2019. Together they were married for 60 years.
She was born in Lowell, Ma. on January 24, 1939, and was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Donnelly) Duffy. She received her education in the Lowell Public schools and was raised in a Gold Star Family after WWII.
Janice retired from Raytheon in 1995 after 30 yrs. of service. She enjoyed family gatherings and remodeling her large Victorian home. She was an avid Boston Sports team supporter, and you could always find her watching the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins or Red Sox on TV. She was a great source for advice or knowledge about current events and history.
Janice was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister. She is survived by her 6 sons, James and Diane Carney of Lowell Ma., Joseph Carney from Billerica Ma., John Carney and his Fiancé Linda Snow of Lowell Ma., Jeff Carney of Lowell Ma., Jay and Laura Carney of Dracut Ma., and Jason and Tracy Carney of Lowell Ma. She leaves her dear sister Doris Manekas of Chelmsford Ma. and her Aunt, Emma Powers of Marshfield Ma. In addition to her many nieces and nephews she was also the proud Grandmother of many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother William Duffy Jr. and daughter in-law, Gina (Marcotte) Carney.

On Wednesday, September 11, 2024 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 4 - 8 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. On Thursday morning, you are welcome to gather at the funeral home between 10:30-10:45 a.m. for her funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
