John E. Sherry 80, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, with family at his side Friday September 6, 2024 at the Blaire House of Milford, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Carmel M. (Walsh) Sherry, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born June 14, 1944 in Somerville, the son of the late Edward and Mary (Kelly) Sherry, he was a resident of Franklin since 1972.
John was raised in Somerville, was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School in West Roxbury and attended Dean College.
A proud American, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963, he attained the rank of A1C and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Armed Forces Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
John was a retired consultant having worked for Verizon.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching the Patriots & Celtics. He was a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks and served as club secretary.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son’s, John E. Sherry, Jr of Arizona, Thomas M. Sherry and his wife Jennifer of Franklin, Paul J. Sherry and his wife Christine of Chicago and Brian Sherry and his wife Shawn of Bellingham.
He was the brother of the late Mary Kuppens.
Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Leo, Brayden, Jack, Brittney, Morgan, Olivia, Sophia, Saskia and his great granddaughter Abigail.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
