Adonia Blais
October 11, 1931 – September 7, 2024
Adonia Gerard “Tony” Blais passed away of natural causes on September 7, 2024, with his loving daughter and son by his side. Tony had an extremely positive outlook and was always smiling and joking with everyone he encountered. He maintained that positivity right until the end, making his daughter and son smile along with him and telling them over and over that he loved them. Everyone who met Tony loved him and the feeling was mutual on his part. He will be deeply missed by his family, closest friends, and everyone who knew him.
Tony was born in in Saint-Honoré, Quebec, Canada, on October 11, 1931, to Maxime Blais (father) and Elmire Beaudoin (mother). He was the youngest of 11 children. Tony was a bricklayer/mason. As a young man, he emigrated to Lawrence, Massachusetts, and eventually started his own masonry contracting business working on numerous homes and businesses in the Merrimack Valley area. He met Pauline Houle Blais of Methuen, and they married in 1965 and had three children: Gerard, William, and Jennifer. Pauline and William predeceased him.
Tony personally built his own home in Methuen and lived there for most of his life. He became a naturalized citizen in 1965. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Methuen and enjoyed being a dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather; visiting daily with his friends at Burger King; going dancing; and fixing everything from household gadgets to tools of all kinds to his lawn tractor that he somehow kept going, to cars and trucks. Tony especially loved to spend time with family and one of his favorite sayings was “Let’s Celebrate!”
Tony is survived by one daughter: Jennifer and her husband Robert Roberge of Wilmington; one son: Gerard Blais of Londonderry, NH; three grandchildren: Megan, Nicholas, and Alyssa; two great-grandchildren: Mady and Grace; along with many nieces and nephews.
