WEBSTER – Edward F. “Eddie” Hackenson, Sr., 60, died Friday, September 6, 2024 in Harrington Health Care at Hubbard after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of almost 32 years, Joan E. (Ruddock) Hackenson; 2 sons, Arthur E. “A.J.” Hackenson II of Hardwick, and Edward F. Hackenson, Jr. and his wife Mikayla of Charlton; 2 grandchildren, Hendrik and Axel Hackenson; a brother, Gary R. Hackenson of Whitinsville; a sister, Judy Hackenson Tona of Boynton Beach, FL; his mother-in-law, Joan Camelli of Milford; nephews and nieces. A sister, Barbara White, died in 2018. He also leaves his chow chow Lilo.
He was born on November 6, 1963 in Framingham and raised in Upton, the son of Arthur and Catherine (Drugan) Hackenson and graduated from Nipmuc Regional High School in 1981. He lived in Northbridge for 10 years before moving here twenty years ago.
Mr. Hackenson first worked as a kiln operator at Bay State Abrasives in Westboro. He was currently a cement truck driver for Tresca Sand & Gravel in Millis.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a member of the choir. He was one of the bell ringers at the church and was active in the coffee fellowship and in working at bereavement meals prior to the pandemic. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with” The Boys”, gardening and tending his fruit trees.
Eddie was devoted to his wife and family, especially the grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 12, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, in the funeral home.
