John T. Rivest, age 63, passed away on September 4, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on January 11, 1961 in Springfield, son of the late Robert F. Rivest and Marguerite (Dupuis) Rivest. John worked as a construction inspector for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for many years. He enjoyed owning his own businesses (A.T.B. Excavating and J.T. Rivest Excavating, Inc.), operating heavy equipment, collecting diecasts, carpentry, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Ashley (Rivest) Ishler and her husband William of Chicopee; one brother, Joseph Rivest and his wife Mary of Southampton; one sister, Anne Marie Rivest and her significant other Joseph Giard of Westhampton along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Rivest Jr and his sister, Julie Prince. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. An in house prayer service will take place at 1:00.
