Mr. Frederick R. "Freddie" Garvey, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved husband of Barbara (Mirabile) Garvey, passed away on Thursday morning, September 5, 2024, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, Massachusetts, after a brief illness. He was 88 years old.
Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on November 26, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late Robert Garvey and Caroline (Ciampi) Hickey. Mr. Garvey was a retired Medford Police Officer and had served the city for 33 years. In his spare time, Freddie enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy and was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots.
Besides his beloved wife, Barbara, he is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law; Karen and her husband Chuck Shay of Wilmington, sisters; Debra Argetes, Mary Beaudoin and Judy Hickey, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Jake.
Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
