Rosemarie “Chickie” Smithers passed away peacefully Friday, August 23rd at her home in Lynn. She was 67. Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late William and Dolores (Parilla) Caruso.
Chickie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend. In her later years, she became the family matriarch and carried out this role with aplomb. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rosemarie was a non-profit fundraiser for America's Less Fortunate and helped many people through her efforts.
The beloved wife of the late Mark Smithers, who passed away in 2017, she was a devoted mother to Sheila Smithers and Cortney Smithers and her husband Jeff Karama. She was a loving grandmother to Giana Moore and Haley Smithers. Chickie was a dear sister to Lawrence Caruso, Laura Accaputo and her husband John, and the late Alfred Caruso. She was a loving aunt to Jennifer Caruso and her longtime boyfriend Tyler McFadden, Andrea Caruso, Billy Caruso, Larissa Caruso, Joshua Mendez, Jada Accaputo and Meadow Accaputo. She was a loving great aunt to Daphne Thomson.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford on Sunday September 15th from 2 - 4, concluding with a chapel service at 4 PM.
